Types of Assistance

Various types of assistance are available from federal, state, institutional, and private aid sources at OSU-Oklahoma City. The following chart or links gives information about the various aid programs available. Eligibility for federal aid programs is contingent upon applicants being degree seeking an eligible certificate, associates, or bachelors programs:

Need-based grant for undergraduates with exceptional financial need; priority is given to Federal Pell Grant recipients whose EFC is zero. Funds are limited. Awards are made on first eligible basis. $100 to $600
Federal Work-Study Money earned while attending school; does not have to be repaid Enrollment in 6 credits required Need-based employment; jobs can be on campus or off campus (Community Service). Students are paid up to $10.00/hr. Funds are limited. Awards are made on first eligible basis. More info... Up to $6,165
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan Loan: must be repaid Enrollment in 6 credits required Need-based loan. U.S. Department of Education pays interest while borrower is in school and during grace and deferment periods. Must be at least half-time; need-based. $3,500 to $5,500 depending on grade level
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan Loan: must be repaid Enrollment in 6 credits required Non-need-based loan. Borrower is responsible for interest during life of the loan. Must be at least half-time. Financial need is not a requirement. $5,500 to $12,500 depending on grade level and dependency status.
Federal Direct PLUS Loan Loan: must be repaid Enrollment in 6 credits required Non-need-based loan. Available to parents of dependent undergraduate students who are enrolled in at least half-time. Financial need is not a requirement. Borrower is responsible for interest during the life of the loan. Maximum amount is cost of attendance minus any other financial aid the dependent student receives.
State Aid- Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG) Grant: does not have to be repaid Enrollment in 6 credits required Need-based state aid grant. Available to undergraduate Oklahoma residents who are Pell eligible and whose EFC does not exceed 1700. Priority deadline of December 1st applies. Up to $1000 depending on enrollment status, application date, EFC, and other aid.
