Admission to OSU-OKC

First-time College Requirements

A first-time freshman is an individual who has attempted fewer than seven semester credit hours of college-level work excluding credit hours earned as a concurrently enrolled high school student. Each applicant shall provide:

  • Completed Application for Admission.
  • Official copy of high school transcript, showing date of graduation.
  • ACT (or similar battery) test scores.*
  • Non-resident application fee (if applicable).
  • Proof of immunization record or signed certificate of exemption.

*The OSU-OKC assessment test (ACCUPLACER) may also be needed for placement purposes. OSU-OKC does not require a minimum score on either of these tests for admission.

High School Curricular Requirements

4 units ENGLISH - grammar, composition and literature
3 units MATHEMATICS - Algebra I and above
2 units HISTORY- must include one unit of American History
2 units LAB SCIENCE- Biology, Chemistry, Physics or any lab science certified by the school district
1 unit CITIZENSHIP SKILLS- Economics, Geography, Government, Non-Western Culture
3 units OTHER- Additional units of subjects above and/or from computer science and/or foreign language

Performance Requirements

To be placed in college-level classes, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Attain a minimum ACT subject test score of 19 within the appropriate subject area, or
  2. Score into the appropriate college-level course on the ACCUPLACER placement test.

*Students who do not obtain the appropriate test scores will be admitted into the college but required to take developmental classes before they are allowed to take college level classes.

Adult Student Requirements

(under 21 years of age)

Any student who is not a high school graduate but whose high school class has graduated and who has participated in the ACT program or similar battery of tests is eligible for admission.

Each applicant shall provide:

  • Completed Application for Admission.
  • Official copy of academic records demonstrating an ability to benefit.
  • ACT (or similar battery) test scores.
  • Non-resident application fee (if applicable).
  • Proof of immunization record or signed certificate of exemption.

(21 years of age or older or on active duty military)

An adult applicant who is ineligible for admission based on the standard admission criteria may interview with an admissions officer to determine if his or her circumstances meet the criteria for adult admission. Each applicant shall provide:

  • Completed Application for Admission.
  • Official copy of academic records demonstrating an ability to benefit (high school transcripts, GED, standardized admission examinations, placement tests, non-collegiate professional licentiate and appropriate work/career experiences).
  • Non-resident application fee (if applicable).
  • Proof of immunization record or signed certificate of exemption.

Transfer Student Requirements

A transfer student is defined as one who has attempted a minimum of seven semester hours of college-level credit (not to include credit hours accumulated by a concurrently enrolled high school student) at another accredited college or university prior to enrolling at OSU-Oklahoma City. All curricular deficiencies must be remediated within the first 12 collegiate hours attempted on the OSU-Oklahoma City Campus. Each applicant shall provide:

  • Completed Application for Admission.
  • Official copies of college transcripts from each college attended.
  • Non-resident application fee (if applicable).
  • Proof of immunization record or signed certificate of exemption.

Home Study or Unaccredited High School Student Requirements

A graduate of a private, parochial or other non-public high school which is not accredited by a recognized accrediting agency is eligible for admission if the student has participated in the ACT or SAT, and if the student's high school class has graduated. Each applicant shall provide:

  • Completed Application for Admission.
  • Official copy of high school transcript, showing date of graduation.
  • ACT or SAT scores.
  • Proof of immunization record or signed certificate of exemption.

Concurrently Enrolled High School Student Requirements

To be admitted as a concurrently enrolled student you must be able to satisfy all 15 curricular requirements and requirements for high school graduation no later than the spring of your senior year and meet the performance requirements listed here.
