Medical Coding Micro-Credential

Medical Coding Micro-CredentialThe Medical Coding micro-credential will teach students the essentials of medical coding for procedures and diseases.  Medical coders work with patients’ healthcare records to ensure that every diagnosis and procedure is assigned an accurate code. These alpha-numeric codes represent documents, descriptions of diseases, conditions, and procedures and allow for proper reimbursement.  The training program within this field often include courses in several key coding systems, current procedural terminology (CPT), international classification of diseases (ICD), and the healthcare common procedure coding systems (HCPCS). 
What can you do with this micro-credential?

After your micro-credential, you have the opportunity to take the national certification exam.  Once certified, you become a valuable and in-demand professional qualified to work in any healthcare setting such as a physician office, ambulatory surgery center, health system, hospital, or even from home, etc.
