Fire Academy; EMT option
The academy provides students with hands-on and classroom learning so they can earn the firefighting certifications* they need to gain employment as a firefighter. Interested students should first apply to OSU-OKC, then enroll through an academic advisor. This program will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
OSU-OKC has added a 16-week emergency medical technician (EMT) certification option to its fall Fire Academy. Students pursing the EMT option will attend class each Friday during the eight-week academy, and for an additional eight Fridays after. The 16-week timeframe to acquire all firefighting and EMT certifications allows students to enter the workforce upon completion.
*Note: Additional non-firefighting certifications may be required.
