Fire Academy; EMT option
The academy provides students with hands-on and classroom learning so they can earn the firefighting certifications* they need to gain employment as a firefighter. Interested students should first apply to OSU-OKC, then enroll through an academic advisor. This program will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
OSU-OKC has added a 16-week emergency medical technician (EMT) certification option to its fall and spring Fire Academy. The Fire Academy will meet Monday-Thursday for 14 weeks. Students who qualify can enroll in an EMT class that will meet every Friday for 16 weeks. The 16-week timeframe to acquire all firefighting and EMT certifications allows students to enter the workforce upon completion.
For more information on the Fire Academy, visit the Fire Academy web page.
*Note: Additional non-firefighting certifications may be required.
