Academic Dishonesty
Here you will find resources that will help you navigate OSU-OKC's Liberal Arts Division's processes for dealing with academic dishonesty and misconduct. On this page, you will find: a video explaining plagiarism, OSU-OKC’s policies and procedures regarding academic dishonesty, a sample letter for communicating to a student that you suspect academic dishonesty, a sample letter for communicating that an investigation of academic dishonesty has concluded and that a decision regarding discipline has been reached. Dishonesty Accusation Letter | WHAT: This is the first communication with a student after you have discovered academic dishonesty, such as plagiarism. WHEN: Use this written communication only when a face-to-face meeting is impossible or unlikely. *Use Timeframe 1 for Weeks 1-14 in a regular semester, or in Weeks 1-7 in an 8-week semester. **Use Timeframe 2 for after Week 14 in a regular semester, or after Week 7 in an 8-week class, and for fast-track and intercession classes. |

Plagiarism Determination Letter | WHAT: This is the second communication with a student after you have confirmed academic dishonesty and made a decision about how to deal with it. Written communication that an instructor is required to use in cases of academic dishonesty (such as plagiarism). HOW: You must convey this to the student in a time-stamped format (e.g., e-mail, Dropbox). You may also give the student a copy, but make sure that you have electronic confirmation of receipt. |
