OSU-OKC recognized as Certified Healthy Campus

University recognized with excellence for fifth consecutive year

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 11, 2020) – The state Health Department has recognized Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City as a Certified Healthy Campus, university leaders learned recently.

As a Certified Healthy Campus, Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) is recognized as a campus that makes a positive impact on the health of students, faculty and staff.

There are three levels of certification in the Certified Healthy Oklahoma Program – basic, merit and excellence – and this year OSU-OKC was recognized at the excellence level.

This is the fifth consecutive year OSU-OKC has earned Certified Healthy Campus recognition and also the fifth in a row to be recognized with excellence.

OSU-OKC offers its students, faculty and staff an on-campus Wellness Center, featuring free weights and weight machines, cardio equipment and fitness classes. The school has a walking trail and outdoor futsal court, and has offered incentivized walking programs to Wellness Center users.

The university will be recognized at the annual Certified Healthy Oklahoma event this April in Norman.

The Certified Healthy Oklahoma Program is a free, voluntary statewide certification. The certification showcases businesses, campuses, communities, congregations, early childhood programs, restaurants, and schools that are committed to supporting healthy choices through environmental and policy change. These entities are working to improve the health of Oklahomans by implementing elements, policies, and programs that will help Oklahomans eat better, move more, and be tobacco free.
