OSU-OKC paramedicine program head helping with N.Y. disaster assistance team

OSU-OKC Paramedicine Program Director Justin Hunter is part of a 31-person Federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team that is helping a shorthanded hospital in New York.

The team arrived Monday, Jan. 3., in Syracuse, New York.

The team is on hand to support operations in the emergency department and other areas of Upstate University Hospital, a hospital spokesperson told NewsChannel 9 of Syracuse.

The team of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other medically trained staff will be stationed at Upstate through January 14.

Tiffany Smith, division head of Human Services, said Hunter was deployed to this area to help the hospital deal with staff shortages. She said this is just one of the "the great things our faculty do outside of their employment with OSU-OKC to help our community."
