OSU-OKC to host Fair Food event

OSU-OKC to host Fair Food, Fun and Your Future event

Favorites like funnel cakes, cinnamon rolls, turkey legs and more to be available

OKLAHOMA CITY (Sept. 15, 2020) – While the annual Oklahoma State Fair was canceled this year due to the pandemic, that doesn’t mean local residents can’t still score some of their favorite fair foods.

A collection of State Fair food vendors have teamed up with Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City to hold the Fair Food, Fun and Your Future event from Sept. 21-27.

The event will be staged in the north parking lot of the Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) campus, 900 N Portland Ave., adjacent to the school’s Engineering Technology Center.

As many as 15 fair food vendors will be on hand, slinging favorites like funnel cakes, turkey legs, curly fries, Indian tacos, pita sandwiches, cinnamon rolls and more.

One of OSU-OKC’s Fire Protection training trucks will also be on hand for those interested in exploring a firetruck and learning more about public safety programming at the university.

Hours will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Sept. 25; noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27.

This is the second public-outreach initiative OSU-OKC has undertaken in as many months to provide entertainment to city residents. Last month, the university hosted a series of free drive-in movies displayed on a large screen in a campus parking lot.

OSU-OKC President Brad Williams said the efforts underscore OSU-OKC’s commitment to the community.

“During a time when the State Fair has been canceled and there are limited opportunities for entertainment due to social distancing measures, we sought out ways to engage the local community,” Williams said. “This event won’t replace the State Fair, but we hope it provides a great opportunity for vendors to interact with the public.”

Parking is free for the Fair Food, Fun and Your Future event, and vendors will accept cash or credit cards. Visitors are encouraged to observe proper social distancing guidelines.
