Cordell Jordan named senior director of marketing and communications at OSU-OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY – Cordell Jordan has been named senior director of marketing and communications at Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City. He assumed the position July 12.

Jordan will oversee marketing and branding of OSU-OKC as well as both internal and external communications. He also will work on community partnerships and serve as a member of the president’s executive team.

“I’m so excited to be back in Oklahoma City in education,” Jordan said. “OSU-OKC is somewhere I always wanted to be.”

He was executive director of marketing and public relations at Oklahoma City Community College for nearly 12 years and most recently served as interim president of Independence Community College in Kansas, where he helped develop the 2020-25 strategic plan.

Jordan earned his associate degree in liberal studies from ICC, a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master’s in business administration from Oklahoma Christian University.

He has experience in college accreditation, instruction, marketing, strategic marketing plans, recruitment planning, crisis communications and operations planning.

“OSU-OKC has renewed its focus on workforce development and is offering more certifications that are tailored to specific job opportunities,” Jordan said. “Career and technology education is what OSU-OKC does best.”

Classes begin Aug. 16 and will be offered both remotely and on campus. Online capabilities allow the college to extend its reach to working adults and students beyond Oklahoma’s borders, he said.

Jordan said he looks forward to working with OSU-OKC President Scott Newman and his team of vice presidents. Newman comes on board Aug. 2 after serving as the provost and vice president of academic affairs for OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee.

Jordan and his wife, Natalie, have two daughters. As a family, they like to travel, go hiking or take beach vacations.
