Award-winning author to visit OSU-OKC for pollinator discussion

Horticulturist Heather Holm to speak at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2

Horticulturist and award-winning author Heather Holm will visit the Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City campus this week for public discussion on pollinators.

The speech is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) Allied Health Auditorium, 440 N Portland Ave.

Holm will present a speech entitled “Forget Television – The Real Entertainment is Happening Outside in Your Pollinator-Friendly Yard.” Holm will discuss the growing movement of “pollinator watchers,” the roles of pollinators in your garden, and the tricks that flowers use to attract insects.

The talk will be preceded by a book signing beginning at 1 p.m. Copies of Holm’s books, “Pollinators of Native Plants” and “Bees: An Identification and Native Plant Forage Guide,” will be available for sale.

Saturday’s event is sponsored by the Oklahoma Native Plant Society, the Oklahoma Horticulture Society, the Oklahoman Nursery and Landscape Association, and the OSU-OKC Horticulture Technologies program.
