Online College FAQ

Logging in:

  • Where do I log in to the Online Classroom?

You will be able to log into the Online Classroom by going to https://osuokc.instructure.com/.

  • I am a new student with an O-Key account and I cannot log into the Online Classroom.

    You need...

    1. An activated O-Key account
    2. To be enrolled in classes
    3. Enough time for enrollment records and your O-Key information to process.

NOTE: Enrollment into the Online Classroom is NOT in real time, whereas the Student Information Service (SIS) is in real time. Just because you show you are enrolled in SIS does not mean that you can immediately get into the Online Classroom.

Data or records processing occurs Monday through Friday nights, but NOT when the university is closed for holidays or weather-related events.

    Here is what to expect:

If you are enrolled and activate your O-Key account Monday through Friday, you should be able to log into the Online Classroom at around 7 a.m. the next day.

If you activate your O-Key account on Saturday or Sunday, you will be able to log into the Online Classroom on Tuesday morning. If there is a Monday holiday, access will not be available until Wednesday morning.

  • I used to be able to log into the Online Classroom but cannot log in now.
    1. Go to your O-Key account and try to log in there.
    2. If you can’t, you probably need to reset your password.
    3. Click the Reset Password link and proceed.
    4. You will need to wait around 30 minutes (often less) for your reset password processes through the system to the Online Classroom.

If you need additional assistance, contact the OSU-OKC Helpdesk at (405) 945-6767.

Supported Browsers:

What PC browsers and mobile phone operating systems does the Online Classroom support?

Because Canvas is built using web standards, Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with a modern web browser.

Canvas supports the current and first previous major releases of the following browsers:

  • Chrome 73 and 74
  • Firefox 65 and 66 (Extended Releases are not supported)
  • Internet Explorer 11 (Windows only—functionally supported; may exhibit slight visual differences from other browsers, but these differences do not restrict product functionality)
  • Edge 42 and 44 (Windows only)
  • Respondus Lockdown Browser (supporting the latest system requirements)
  • Safari 11 and 12 (Macintosh only)

You should always use the most current version of your preferred browser. Your browser will notify you if there is a new version available.

Some supported browsers may still produce a banner stating Your browser does not meet the minimum requirements for Canvas. If you have upgraded your browser but you are still seeing the warning banner, try logging out of Canvas and deleting your browser cookies. The warning banner will display in versions of Firefox older than Firefox 60 and versions of Chrome older than Chrome 66.

Canvas on Mobile Devices

The Canvas interface was optimized for desktop displays, so using small form factors such as phones may not be a pleasant experience in using Canvas. For the best user experience, please download the Canvas mobile applications.

Since Canvas uses small elements of Flash, not all Canvas features may be supported on mobile devices, especially on iOS.

Mobile Browsers

Visit the Apple store or the Play store to download mobile browsers. The following major browsers are compatible with mobile devices:

iOS

  • Safari (default browser with limited Canvas support)
  • Chrome
  • Photon Flash Player (supports Flash)

Android

  • Chrome (default browser with limited Canvas support)*
  • Internet
  • Firefox

*Android default browser varies per mobile device.

*Some instructors do not allow the use of mobile devices for quizzes, exams or other online activities.

Using a desktop or laptop computer is highly recommended.

Courses:

I recently enrolled in courses but I don't see them in my account.

Course enrollment does not appear in Canvas immediately like they do in the Student Information Service (SIS). Your course may not appear because of timing between when you enroll in SIS and when your enrollment processes.

  • Data processing runs the nights of Monday through Friday, except for holidays or if the University is closed for weather-related issues. Enrollment records have to be processed to move them from SIS, coordinate with O-Key records and into Canvas.
  • If you enroll on Monday through Friday, you can expect to see your classes the next day. However, if you enroll on Saturday or Sunday, your classes will not show until Tuesday.

One of my classes is missing.

Verify you are enrolled in the course by checking your schedule. http://my.okstate.edu.

If you are enrolled, contact your instructor to find out when the course will be available. Instructors sometimes "turn off" a class while they work on it.

If you find you are not enrolled you can enroll in the course or contact an advisor.
