Free Speech and Social Media Panel

Engage with a panel of community and academic leaders to explore the concepts of free speech in the age of social media. Attendees have the option to attend in-person or virtually.

Steven Collins

Dr. Steven Collins is a professor and lead instructor of Political Science. He began at OSU-OKC as an adjunct instructor in American Government in Spring of 2005. He was hired on full time in the fall of 2009. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a Juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. He teaches courses in American government, Oklahoma government, Civil Rights/Liberties, Comparative politics, and the Politics of Good and Evil. His main focus is on civic responsibility and voting. Dr. Collins currently advises 3 student clubs: Black Student Association, Rhythmic Dance Club, and Music Club. He also manages a solo law practice with an emphasis on criminal law and estate planning. Dr. Collins enjoys spending time with family/friends, listening to music, watching sports, reading, and teaching! Finally, he urges his students to get involved in their democracy. He believes that politics is a contact sport!


Joey Senat

Dr. Joey Senat is an associate professor teaching media law and multimedia journalism classes at OSU’s School of Media & Strategic Communications. He is the author of Mass Communication Law in Oklahoma and Our Right to Know in Oklahoma. Dr. Senat has received Freedom of Information Oklahoma’s Ben Blackstock Award and its Marian Opala First Amendment Award as well the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists Award for Distinguished Service to the First Amendment. 


Kayla Branch
 

Kayla Branch is a reporter for The Frontier covering state government with an emphasis on the state's welfare systems and the Legislature. She previously spent two years writing about homelessness and local government for The Oklahoman. Branch graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2019 with a degree in journalism.
