Oklahoma has a growing Spanish-speaking community, and government agencies and businesses want better communication for this community. The Associate of Applied Science in Technical Spanish/Translation and Interpretation degree prepares graduates to translate and interpret from Spanish to English and vice versa, facilitating accurate communication.

Benefits of the Degree
Graduates find jobs interpreting and translating in public and private sector organizations, such as hospitals, courts, businesses, government departments or as independent contractors. The public is served better by having more qualified interpreters in the field. For example, police officers and hospital workers benefit from being able to work without having to wait for interpreters to be found to help with clients/patients.
The median annual wage for interpreters and translators with a bachelor's degree was $49,110 in May 2021 with the highest 10 percent of workers earning more than $97,760. Employment of interpreters and translators nationwide is projected to grow 20 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
