Crime Victim/Survivor Services
What is crime victim/survivor services?
With the Associate of Applied Science in Crime Victim/Survivor Services, you prepare
for entry-level roles in crime victim advocacy and help meet a critical need in the
local victim services community. When individuals are affected by criminal acts, they,
their families and the community rely on trained professionals for support and intervention
in areas like crime victimization, trauma, crisis management, safety planning, risk
assessment and victim support.
As a Crime Victim Advocate, you’ll work with people impacted by crimes such as sexual
assault, domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, child maltreatment, elder
abuse and homicide. You’ll provide a wide range of services and trauma-informed support
to help foster hope, healing and justice.
Why crime victim/survivor services?
Many graduates continue their education in bachelor’s programs in social work, psychology,
sociology or criminal justice. OSU-OKC’s Crime Victim/Survivor Services degree is
the only one of its kind in Oklahoma and one of only a few nationwide. Our experienced
faculty will equip you with the education and skills needed to begin a meaningful
career in crime victim advocacy. If you're already working in the field or in a related
area, this degree also gives you the opportunity to maintain or upgrade your training
and credentials.
