Oklahoma City - An OSU Degree in OKC.

Registration is open for the Construct My Future summer camp held at OSU-OKC

The Construct My Future construction summer camp registration is now open! Held on the campus of OSU-OKC, this summer day camp, June 3-7, is designed to provide middle school-aged students with exploration, discovery and an exciting hands-on experience in the construction industry.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation proudly supports the Construct My Future Initiative which aims to introduce students to a wide range of careers and skilled trades in the construction industry, from electrical work to carpentry to technology. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about rewarding careers that often require no college debt and offer paid training.

Each day at Construct My Future will be packed with engaging construction activities, such as carpentry, operating heavy equipment, working with masonry and concrete, climbing utility poles, learning plumbing skills, understanding electrical currents and much more. Field trips to a neighborhood under development, a large commercial construction site and other sites will provide campers with a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry.

"A heartfelt thank you to our amazing sponsors, partners and volunteers for helping bring our camps to fruition," said Marla Cloos, Construct My Future camp director. "With their support and expertise, we're able to inspire and guide middle school students in Oklahoma towards rewarding careers in the trades.Together, we are making a difference."

The camp will be located at the Engineering Technology Center at OSU-OKC. Lunch and snacks will be provided daily. Camp hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, June 3 through Thursday, June  6 and 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, June 7 which includes a celebration luncheon with parents and other guests. May 9 is the final day to sign-up and registration is $75 per student. Eligible participating students must currently be in grades 5, 6, 7 or 8 and enrolled in an Oklahoma school or home school.
