Tribal Training

Tribal Training

On October 28, 2021, Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC) hosted the first Tribal Education Advisory Council meeting at the First Americans Museum (FAM) in Oklahoma City. OSU-OKC was proud to welcome statewide tribal representation at the meeting and wants to express the deepest thanks to those who participated in the event and provided key input on the development of programs and trainings.

At this event, OSU-OKC was also proud to accept funding from United Healthcare for scholarships for college credit programs in the Health Sciences Division, including the Associate of Applied Science in Cardiovascular Sonography, Associate of Science in Healthcare Management, Associate of Applied Science in Nurse Science, Associate of Applied Science in Paramedicine, Certificate in Emergency Medical Technician, Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology, and Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. More information about scholarship opportunities is available through the Financial Aid office and the Scholarship Portal: Scholarship Opportunities | Oklahoma State University (osuokc.edu).

The Tribal Education Advisory Council generated excellent ideas, feedback, and topics about training and education that would meet workforce, learning, and professional development needs. In response to the feedback and input generated from that meeting, OSU-OKC compiled the needs, topic areas, and assessments from the sessions, reviewing all responses. For these core areas identified from the meeting, OSU-OKC has curated a list of training and education programs available at this time to meet the needs of the core areas from the meeting and has attempted to address as many core areas as possible. This training list serves as a resource for available programs and pathways to meet training needs.

These core areas were critical for identifying training and education needs, and OSU-OKC is excited about the opportunity to offer programs related to these sectors. From 2021 to the present (2023), OSU-OKC has continued to focus on this ongoing partnership for workforce development, adding credit and non-credit programs since the meeting and continuously working to add more programs that meet industry and partner needs. OSU-OKC can also customize training programs to meet specific employer needs for the ever-changing workforce in Oklahoma.
