What You’ll Learn

You’ll gain hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs using ladder logic and other common programming languages on platforms like Siemens and Allen-Bradley. You’ll also learn to assemble electrical circuits and control panels, interpret schematics and follow safe electrical practices.

In addition, you’ll explore how to integrate automation components using industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP and Profibus. The curriculum emphasizes workplace and electrical safety, along with compliance with industry standards including IEC, ANSI and NFPA 70E.

Requirements and Deadlines

The technical courses in this certificate program are also part of the Engineering Technology A.A.S. degree, but you can earn the certificate independently. To move on to the next course in the sequence, you’ll need to complete the prerequisite course with a grade of 'C' or better.
