Employee Guidelines

Employee Guidance

If employees, family members, or other close contacts have been exposed to or are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, or if you answered yes to any of the self-check questions, you will be required to stay home, contact HR and seek guidance from your health care provider. The university has leave policies that encourage employees to stay at home when they or household members are sick or required by a health care provider to isolate or quarantine themselves or a member of their household. Answering yes to any questions on the self-checklist and asked to stay home does not automatically require use of sick leave, only if unable to work. Mobile technologies may be deployed to ensure continuation of work.

Please reach out to your supervisor and HR for specific guidance. All potential exposure or positive cases of COVID-19 must be reported to Human Resources immediately. DO NOT REPORT TO CAMPUS or OTHER RELATED UNIVERSITY BUSINESS, call (405) 945-3298. Failure to report or following university guidelines related to COVID-19 could lead to disciplinary action.

Supervisors

Supervisors must require affected employees to stay home and are obligated to protect the privacy of employee health information and ensure that Human Resources is contacted. Failure to report or following university guidelines related to COVID-19 could lead to disciplinary action.

High-Risk Employees

Those who are in a vulnerable population are of the utmost concern. If your health is considered high risk, you provide care for a high risk individual, have childcare disruption or require modifications to your work, please engage in individual discussions with your supervisor and/or Human Resources. Potential modifications include, but are not limited to: telework, use of accrued leave or leave without pay, adjusted work hours to avoid or reduce contact with others and isolated workstations.

To help prepare for returning to work on campus, please review HR’s employee guidance.

University-Related Travel

Given the continuing guidance of state, federal and world health organizations, the university’s domestic and international travel guidelines are as follows:

  • All restrictions on in-state travel have been lifted and normal processing of requests and approvals should be followed.
  • All out-of-state and international travel for university-related business or academic purposes will remain suspended until further notice, unless such travel is essential to the university and approved by the appropriate dean, vice president or administrative designee. Reimbursement will not be processed from any funding source for out-of-state travel that does not include approval by the appropriate dean, vice president or administrative designee.
  • All university-sponsored domestic and international travelers must review CDC guidance for travelers and understand their associated travel risks before, during and after travel.
  • All travel approvals are subject to change and possible revocation based on evolving public health and university guidance.
  • Administrative processes for travel can be found at: https://osuokc.edu/travel
